The Miss America 2011 will be more special this year as the competition is celebrating 90 years, as it started back in 1921.Miss America 2010, Caressa Cameron, will be handing over the crown to the new winner. The 2011 Miss America Pageant airs on ABC at 9:00 p.m. EST.
The Miss America 2011 pageant is underway in Las Vegas at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. Hosts this year are Chris Harrison from The Bachelor and Brooke Burke of Dancing with the Stars.
There have already been three days of preliminary competition and there are already some front runners! So far:
Miss Nebraska won for talent ( playing piano).
Miss Oklahoma got kudos for Lifestyle and Fitness aka swimsuit.
Miss Rhode Island and Miss Alabama did well as did Miss North Carolina and Miss Hawaii.
President of the Miss America Organization Art McMaster said: “We are thrilled to be working with Brooke for the 2011 Miss America Pageant and look forward to her joining us for the 90th anniversary celebration of this great American tradition. We welcome Brooke into our Miss America family, and we know she will be a wonderful co-host for this exciting milestone in our organization’s illustrious history.”
During the spotlight event, the current Miss America Caressa Cameron from Virginia will officialy end her time on the “throne” and the 2011 winner will be crowned.The judges this year are comedienne Joy Behar, veterinarian Dr. Debbye Turner Bell, TV producer Marc Cherry, ballroom dancer Tony Dovolani, actress Marilu Henner, shoe designer Taryn Rose, and country singer Mark Wills.
